i love this gallery. i love most of the shows i see there. i love metropolis. i hate the fact that they never support local artists in the same way that they do those established (already making money) artists overseas. it would be nice to see a non for profit paste up comp or something in such a well exposed place - heaps of commercial spaces support emerging artists and street artists, it'd be nice to see them spend there excess earnings on the underground instead of jamaican beer. that being said -GENEVIEVE GAUCKLER, parisian, butchy and a little designerish but very cool (because i love text and monsters in any work that i see) woman from the south of france (i don't actually think shes from the south of france but it sounds romantic) is now showing at someday, check it out, i will probably yet again end up reviewing the people and not the actual show. boowah

don't let the funky website and flyer fool you - it wasn't that good.

last night my sea bears and i went to the opening of liquid architecture - which you'll know as the experemental music festival in melbourne. it needs a bit of leeway this opening - because it was mostly improvised and the acoustics in the gaol were excellent. i did score some free earplugs tho (didn't need to use them at the show because the sound didn't blow me away)

there were some highlights - a nice man in pretty jeans making fun sounds with a trough filled with sand - a whisk - and a wonderful imitation of the buddhist cup thing that they do.

the night started (with me and my seabears getting in first on account of my prosthetic legs, much to the disgust of the beautiful melbournites dressed in black who'd gotten there before us) actually, last night was probably one of the most prime examples (excluding someday gallery openings) of the visions of style in melbourne. i mean, these people are gorgeous, dressed in there black boots and leopard print leggings under saucy small black skirts. there was even (as one of my seabears pointed out much to my shock) a fashion statement in the form of a red sleeping bag being worn as a parka. the funny thing was, she looked rather nice, warm and a bit like she'd come back from camping and neglected to get out of her thermol sleep worm.

when we first arrived everyone was ushered into the bar room where the delights of free beer, wine and orange juice awaited. it seemed that they didn't let anyone out until the alchohol stopped flowing and i know wonder whether this was because everything sounds better after a few drinks.

the highlight of this night was a funny bearded hippy who looked a little lost or stoned that kept the smiles going throughout the night, he was a rareity in a cold dark gaol filled with cold dark melbornights (who incidently - seem only to come out at night)

i just found out that the ngv international aquired two very beautiful works from glasgow - A moment´s silence (for someone close to you) by Douglas Gordon and Gobstopper by Roderick Buchanan. if you weren't alive or around when acca had their orifice exhibition then you won't remember these peices (they were video projections). but - lucky you, its now permanantly in melbourne for your viewing and listening pleasure. i tried to google some of their images into the puter box but i think they're too young or unrecognized and i could only get pictures of gorden from thomas the tank engine.

this is kostas - he listens to music while he works just like any other artist, but when he does it it's ten times cooler than the average person. he has a warehouse studio with exposed piping. he wears a beany. there are bars on his window, like a caged beast he crouches instead of stands for the photo shoot. he has not one but two cd players. i'm probably going to go to the opening at someday where the people are beautiful and the beer's jamaican. if i see him, i'll pretend that i know who he is but don't care and silently slip a note behind one of his paintings that says - you are pretentious and very like a lot of other artists, but we should have babies together. ..

i hate being broken. i have to figure out strange and wonderful excercises for the arms and leg and tummy. if you knew me in high school you would remember that "before time" when i was overweight because i was broken*. its funny to think that a man's t would be tight on me. and not because my breasts were going thru puberty but because the depressed tend to veer towards chocolate for dinner. and lunch, and brekky. (it was only deepressing because i was due to move out of home and had to hang around my family for longer - i also had a serious operation and couldn't move around for ages and ages)

i'm making a really hard effort not to get fat this time. but unfortunetly that means my muscles are aching, my one leg becoming something from a sci fi mills and boon and i've been eating so much fibre and vegie stuff that my skin is turning orange. i did ask the doctor whether my bones might be a little brittle compared to most but he said some people are just accident prone.
so i mentioned that i've also broken a fair few toes in my lifetime, my elbow was fractured and so was my cocsic and he prescribed me some calcium tablets.

*i broke all the bones in my ankle from playing tugger war with my dog 3 years ago. i still have two nice scars and a metal plate and pin which still occasionally hurts. COCK!

well we moved into the house in lustrious preston - art commune to be and punk central for the ones who know.

but unfortuunetly i'm broken. i can't leave the house much but now at least we have a phone line. i look and act a little pissed off and high on codine because i ripped my foot in two.

i do wonder tho about my pain threshold tho. when it happened (i had an accident on some stairs) i woke up the next morning not realising that i was broken. i walked down the stairs in question and heard a crackle in my foot. then a pop. then a crackle everytime i put my foot down (its the right foot)

i managed to hop to a phone booth only to find out i had no change. i stared at the bp station to my left. then i looked to my right at the shell station. but i didn't really have energy to hop anymore so i just called the fault line on the phone and told theoperator what had happed - i even cried a little so he'd feel sorry for me. which he did.

my old housies came and performed a heroic rescue at five in the morning and took me to the hospital where i was xrayed and got lots of sympathy because apparantly i don't have a high pain threshold after all and i'm a pussy.

it was fun in the wheelchair.

so to cut that boring story and get to the point. i can't drink to excess if at all for 6-8 weeks. or walk. or have my housewarming - or have any sort of fun with drugs. not that i have any drugs to take. but - i have time on my hands to do a frida and make things. paint things and have CREATIVE FUN!! who am i kidding. i'm bored as hell. my foot hurts and my toes are cold.

Three weeks later Polly woke up.

Unknowingly, the incident described above led to a three week long relationship with the B.C. and she was ready to leave.

B.C. - "i don't know why you wouldn't want me to guide you in the desired direction polly" while at the same time kneading her back and suggesting a mild form of embrace.

polly slipped some powder into his glass, she even wrote him a letter of refusal on the inside of her uneven china breast which was already slightly cracked from
B.C. 's regular kneading (all she wanted was a hug).

she kept experiencing vertigo and reoccuring dreams where - like the doll that she was - she broke, left her haunt, almost reached nirvana, hopped into the B.C. 's bellybutton, and disappeared.

"i don't want to disappear" polly knew what she had to to.

polly sat with the B.C. knowing full well that when the bathtub filled with water - he would undoubtably float - and it would fall into her china hands to push him under. but before anything could happen she found her mouth moving involunterally.

"Why?"

the B.C. looked forlorn and tired and shaky. "i don't know - a sort of metamorphisis came upon me i suppose"

polly was wired with something akin to rage - but not quite. "THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!" "i just wanted you to be happy" said polly.

"Well" said B.C. "bunny hoppers have larger lungs which is why they have such bouyancy on the water. "

"he knows why i lured him to the bath" and she was about to change tact in the dialogue but as usual the B.C. just kept talking.................."We have larger hearts as well. together, these features mean that we can call upon a greater respitory response and generally have more stamina, also a quicker recovery from physical exertion"

tonight i saw an amazing show (check out brilliant fabulous links below or above or whatever). And even a personal photo of ..........wait for it..................................................DENNis Jesus hopper yay!but the damper on the evening was a great friend of mine from uni - Micheal G - whom which i feel an affinity because of his temprement and youth.

His solo show was at Kozminsky Art Gallery - which.............is, sadly, a highly commercial upmarket gallery above a jewelery store. We (Androniki and myself - dressed in our own natural oils and smells and jeans ans tshirts) entered our personal friends show through the front door like everyone else. tO be confronted by a security/bouncer guard with a doorlist A FUCKING EXHIBITION!! and had to explain that we were old time uni friends and have had a show with micheal ourselves, let alone actually know who he is AND have had on and off sunny wars (who's got the most awsome cheapest sunnies day to day wars 4 3 years).

And i became a little sad, when i saw that half of his work i had seen before and half of it was Joy Hesteresk/Brett whitleesk nudes and it was a sell out show. And don't get me wrong, i love micheal. he's a stallion and a fucking brilliant painter. BUT

how can you produce the same stuff (good stuff usually, granted) for THREE WHOLE FUCKING YEARS!! and still become famous by the time you're 20? well - the answer is - i don't know I DON'T KNOW!!

camera crew - "hey we're from channel 7 and have a bus" ' points to a shady looking bus across the road - "and want 12 lucky job seekers to hop on tomorrow morning and we'll take you to mildura where there is work waiting!!!!"

they failed to mention that the work was grape picking and that its seasonal.

me - "oh, ok then, so i'll just drop everything and leave tomorrow morning then and nevermind my rent and bills and dog and children. Can i take my children? I'm on the dole and can't afford a babysitter".

camera crew - "you'll have to figure something out yourself"

anyway, , we were all very pissed off, completely degraded and then cat called when we had finished handing in our forms.

THEN THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO AIR ME ON TV WITH THE STORY - With more than 500,000 Australians unemployed there are still plenty of job vacancies, so we attempted an experiment to find people some jobs.

it appears we have weevILS...on our ceiling. i didn't notice them until i got an email from my housy, which said -

i bought a dress for 95 dolla. very unlike me if you know me - the woman waiting for grunge to be cool again - or uncool again, i don't know. so i bought this 95 dolla dress, it's amazing, but as gun girl would agree, i probably should have bought another tattoo.

i also saw this interesting childrens book selling on ebay (see pics) it's really quite disgusting because the woman looks half the man's age. Poor Katie Holmes. i believe she's preggas. the dr suess patry i organized was reasonably good. Ben and I were the only's drinking down the sangria (spanish for sexy great wine and tequila drink). Ben threw up that nyte. I threw up the next day.

i'm up really early this morning, making a black coffee ala coop (from twin peaks) and have my tabacco at the ready for when it's done. i'm up because jacinda and i are having a garage sale, to sell off my some of my "assets" that i declared to centerlink the other day........in total these were given a monetary value of about $1500, the majorority of this is my accordian, my bed and my dog. they also asked me if i owned any livestock and if i had seen my male housemate's penis' (if i was in a relationship with them - note - they didn't ask me about jacinda because we in australia don't recongnize gay and lesbian relationships because we suck)

last nyte i expected to see damo suzuki live at revolver (i hate revelvor) with my good friend androniki who is an artist and isn't afraid to say so. but after waiting in line in the rain (we were undercover though but it made me need to pee more) 4 over an hour we missed out on tickets - and stupid mitch from the cameo got them instead. i counted my losses, thanked god i was still alive and went to the back bar where i bumped into weird music josh, his brother and noah (i like all of these persons so that was nice). but where was androniki i asked myself? and i felt scared because i thought she might have gotten herself thrown out after yelling - "HOW MANY COCKS DID YOU HAVE TO SUCK TO GET YOUR TICKETS?" to the people who where on the door list while we waited on the stairs. but she wasn't outside, or in the bathroom or anywhere, so i figured she'd gotten in and waited patiently for her to come and get me.

she didn't come and get me. she'd snuck inside when the door bitch had her back turned and watched the entire 3 hour performance magnificant without having to pay. so i went home and resigned myself to the fact that even though i really love damo suzuki that i'm just not cool enough to get into gig's like that and sucked enough cock. also i still like slater kinney i still like veruca salt and i don't like androniki as much any more.

she did come and get me in her car this morning though to take me to a great vegan bakery in preston where i could have a mushroom pie that tastes like real pie. so i forgive her coz she payed for it. and if i'm gonna do a gun girl and give a soundtrack to this post (once off - i don't like to copy) it would be "the killing moon" by echo and the bunnyman

My housemate came back from ecuador yesterday morning and brought me the most beautiful painting from the market - it's a surreal blue with the darkest black ink. i love it. i also aquired the ecuadorian equivilent of one of those dogs that bob their heads in the car window - only it's a toirtle - and its made of paper mache, beaultifuly and brightly painted and has the bestest bung eye i've ever seen. also i got a beautiful necklace that is turquoise colour.

She managed to pick up some burnt dvd's (the only form that dvd's come in - even the video store only has burnt copies), and i got given - La Isla, Un Film de Micheal Bay and el umbral del suicidio or "Stay" in Americano. Both have Ewan Mcgregor in them.

i am going through some odd changes but still drinking coffee..................plans to move out, solo show, housemate home, black coffe, strong no suger, friend's opening on friday or satday, i'm going to start growing my sea monkeys.

FRIDAY i saw a great show, @ - GERTRUDE CONTEMPORARY ART SPACES FORMALLY KNOWN AS 200 GERTRUDE ST, this is the annual Gertrude studios show and was titled "the air between us" which i think is apt, clever and poetic. i myself would like to be part of these studios but am convinced that it will b impossible until i start wearing vintage cow boots and black jeens, also cool t's and some other "oh i'm a wasting away rock star look" .
